The Thief River Falls Area Community Theater (TRFACT) creates opportunities for people of all ages to experience the power of live theater, both on stage and behind the scenes. Based in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, we serve our community and the surrounding region by producing engaging, accessible theater that brings people together.
Our production season spans a wide range of styles and formats, from intimate one-person shows to full-scale musicals and ensemble productions. Performances are typically staged at the Northland Community and Technical College Theater on the Thief River Falls campus, a space that has become a familiar gathering place for local audiences and artists alike.
At its heart, TRFACT is about participation. We believe theater should be something you do, not just something you watch, and we strive to create welcoming, collaborative environments where creativity can thrive.

Our mission is to provide local performers with outlets for creative expression while offering quality entertainment for our audiences. We are committed to nurturing talent, encouraging artistic growth, and making theater a vibrant and inclusive part of life in the Thief River Falls area.

TRFACT’s formal arts education programs began in 2015 with the launch of summer camps for students in grades 2 through 12. Since then, we have expanded our educational offerings to include workshops that help young performers build skills in acting, vocal performance, and choreography, while also gaining confidence and teamwork skills. Our youth programs regularly fill to capacity and have become a cornerstone of our organization.
In recent years, we have broadened our focus to include intentional arts education for adults. Alongside our annual production season, we now offer workshops that provide technical and performance training for adult learners. A pilot adult workshop series in 2025 filled completely, confirming strong community interest in continued learning opportunities beyond the stage.
Across all ages and programs, we are dedicated to being a safe, supportive, and welcoming space. TRFACT values inclusivity and strives to ensure that everyone, including those navigating life transitions or personal challenges, feels encouraged to participate and grow.

Founded in the 1970s and revitalized in 1995, the Thief River Falls Area Community Theater has a long and proud history of community-driven performance. Since 1995, TRFACT has produced more than 100 shows, ranging from comedies and dramas to beloved musicals and original programming. Over the decades, more than 1,900 Minnesotans have participated as performers, technicians, creatives, volunteers, and audience members.
This history reflects our ongoing commitment to artistic variety, community involvement, and the belief that theater belongs to everyone.
