Fasten your seatbelt: You are in for a wild ride into the world of Dr. Seuss! This fast-paced tale is a musical compilation of many of Seuss’ stories rolled into one beautifully crafted stage production. Seussical, while containing parts of many of the famous author’s stories, focuses on the little elephant, Horton, of Horton Hears a Who and Horton Hatches an Egg. You will also get glimpses of other famous Seuss characters, such as The Grinch and Yertle the Turtle. Expertly woven together by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, this Broadway musical has entertained audiences of all ages. On a local level, the production marks the beginning of what we hope will become a stable, long-time tradition: a program devoted to training young performers. Thank you to all audiences, parents, and performers for allowing me to be a part of this. I am so proud of these kids, not only their talent, but their dedication, hard work and perseverance that made Seussical happen. We met two weeks ago for the first time, and look what has been accomplished!
If you like what you see, hear and feel tonight, won’t you consider becoming a member of the TRFACT and supporting this effort? We would love to have you on board and know you are a part of something big, something great, something meaningful to our youth. To quote the great jazz musician and composer, Dave Brubeck: “By offering music and the other arts, we are enriching the lives of the students as we endeavor to preserve our culture and our civilization. We are inculcating a sense of discipline and respect and channeling energies into forms of self-expression that have a positive, social impact.” Oh the Thinks WE Can Think, if we band together!
